A one day workshop for school based nursery staff.


This workshop is about the urgent need to make the Physical Development of our youngest children a priority in the early years: Why we need to do this – and how we can make dramatic changes in children’s outcomes by focusing on physical skills first.

  • To understand why, in our modern, fast pace society, we need to make physical development in the Under 5’s a top priority.
  •  To gain an understanding of two very important aspects of young children’s physical development:  sensory integration & kinaesthesia.
  •  What should be in continuous play provision for good sensory & motor development?
  • The benefits of ‘floor play.’
  •  The problem with ‘screens’.
  • How to get your Head teacher and other members of staff on board.
  •  Addressing physical development with parents.
  •  Creating environments indoors and outside.
  •  A progressive approach to developing handwriting and pencil grip.
