OVERVIEW

This is the minimum award that should be held by any school swimming teacher who has responsibility for the water safety of a class in a programmed session, whether or not they are teaching swimming.  It is good practice for as many as possible of the school teaching and assistant staff involved in school swimming to undertake this award (afPE Safe Practice, 2016).  Candidates will be taught pool rescue and CPR.
